Root Canal Therapy and Dental Implants.
A local anesthetic is administered to numb the involved area. (Nitrous Oxide analgesia and/or oral sedation are also available in our office.) An opening is then made through the crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber. The pulp is then removed with tiny flexible files.
The root canal is cleaned and shaped to a form that can be filled with a moldable type material called “Gutta-Percha.” The tooth is either completed with a post build-up or prepared with a post-space that your general dentist will complete. However, some teeth do not need a post for restoration.
A local anesthetic is administered to numb the area where the implant will be placed. (Nitrous Oxide analgesia and/or oral sedation are also available in our office.) Using special instruments, a space (osteotomy) is created in the bone into which the implant will be placed. The titanium implant is then inserted into the socket.
Central New England Endodontics & Implantology was the first in this area to offer single surgery implants, saving our patients both time and money.
After implants are placed, follow-up care is usually needed to monitor proper healing. We advise the general dentist with an osseointegration report as to when coronal implant restoration can proceed. With the advanced implants used in our office, they can often be restored within a few weeks of the implant. This greatly decreases the time factor.
